Monday, Monday

Not unlike the Mamas and the Papas, Mondays have not been a highlight of our week these last few.

Last Monday, as you are already privy to, I worked from home with a sick girl which was simultaneously Valentine's Day.  Here's the thing about my daughter:  She's one of those sickys that can still work through it in an upbeat manner.  So, it's not like I have an ill child who just wants to cuddle and watch TV quietly, oh no.  She still wants to talk and dance and type (on mommy's big girl laptop, for sure), so working from home with She Who Is the Boss of Me around is no walk in the park. Thanks to a prescribed visit by Auntie Antibiotic, however, we were on the mend in no time and daycare was attended the following day.  Hallelujah!

Daddy left us with a few love balloons at least.
Despite our squirmy germy house infestation, we still made due with a mini-celebration of love.

Muchas smoochas to my favorite grownup love bug!  You can tell he's extremely thrilled by my guerilla kissy attack as I preserve it forever with my camera phone.  Love you Cardo!

We made Valentines for all of Alessandra's friends.  She opted to give bouncy balls instead of candy.
Ali had her own Valentine to read too!

So did daddy!
Also occurring on our favorite day of the week was yet another ridiculous blizzard that now has the snowdrifts on our patio reaching to our roof.  I was literally trapped inside my house on Monday, only realizing the true scope of buildup on Old Man Winter's dumping grounds when I went to open my front door to leave for work...And couldn't.

This is taken from my front door, Cardo and Ali are heading in through the garage which was only possible after the plow came...About 8 hours into our day.

My front yard.

Patio...Almost up to the roof!

This is about all we can do when we're trapped indoors and still sorta sick.

For some reason, Ali's blanket situation above kind of reminds me of Sho'Nuff's outfit in the Last Dragon.  See what happens when you're stuck indoors with nothing but your imagination?  You start resurrecting awesomely bad 80's movies in your mind.

"Am I the baddest mofo lowdown around this town?!?  SHO'NUFF!"
A girl after my own heart, Ali Pants has been helping her mama in the kitchen quite a bit.  She helps me wash and put away dishes.  She gives me ingredients and even helps me clean up.  The best thing: She tries most everything I give to her!  (Ahem, unlike a certain daddy I know...)

"Come and get it!"
In borderline creepy news taking place in the nudist colony section of our household, Ali went the extra mile in the couture arena this week and sauced it up with some makeshift sticker-chaps.

It sort of reminds me of the way ladies would draw seam lines on the back of their legs when silk stockings were on ration during WWII.  Oh, how I wish the amount of stickers in our house were rationed.  I find them on the bottom of my shoes, in my bed, on the floor, in my laundry and everywhere in between pretty much once a day at least.

Gosh, I wish they would just invent Littlest Petz stickers already so we wouldn't have to fool around with this silly eyebrow pencil!
Well, that's all I got for ya this week.  Here's to hoping you find us next week with warmer temperatures, less snow on the ground, and a healthy family once and for all (Cardo is home sick today now too).

Love, Team Torres

I sincerely imagine angels to look this way, all naked with piles of curly hair.

1 of you love me, and I you:

She IS an angel! I loved the posting this week and could relate, oh so well. There isn't much to do when you're hunkered in and it's snowing inches upon inches outside! Enough snow already! I'm ready for spring!

Hugs to everyone in the Eagan tundra! We love and miss you lots!
