Man, if every day could be like Sunday...Wait, then I'd be retired! Not ready to wish my life away just yet, but if I won the lottery that could be quite a different story! All the same, it's nice not to have a plan or agenda one day out of the week. Doubly nice is not having to answer to that alarm that calls my name every single weekday. Although, sleeping in (and sleeping in general) does have it's trials and tribulations as of late.
I'm told I ought not sleep on my back so as to not crush my vena cava--Some variety of main artery that returns blood to my heart--with my cantaloupe-sized uterus. I am to sleep on my side from here on out, left being preferable to the right due to better oxygen delivery to the baby. What all of this means scientifically or biologically, I haven't the slightest. I reckon I just better concede with all of the books and websites that seem to be in agreeance over the matter. To further confound my tossing and turning each evening, this elephantine uterus of mine is now hogging the rightful space of my bladder, crushing in the available "fill space" technically making it smaller which undoubtedly awakes me with the need to pee about once every three hours. Bathroom breaks aside, this pregnancy is still going smashingly well and compared to most, I believe I am having a very nice time with all of this.
For a few weeks now I've been feeling some movement which I'm sure are not gas bubbles. They seem to be in the same area and continue to get stronger and more concentrated. I must say, this "butterfly fluttering" feeling that some mothers use to describe this feeling is bologna! To me, it feels more like there's a child in my tummy moving around. Imagine that! I can't wait until baby becomes stronger and the kicks become more pronounced so that Cardo can feel from the outside, but for now, he's just going to have to take my word for it that our little one is alive and well in there! The one thing I do know for sure is that he/she must have Ricardo's genes, because he/she works out a lot more than I do already! They way I see it, it's just so EASY to be lazy!!!
However, I digress...Back to our Sunday. We purchased a fantastic new camera that is just so little, thin, and light. Who knew that technology has come so far since our colossal clunker back when we were the first kids on the block to own a digital camera?!? I of course had to record the day's events with my new toy. To follow are a typical Sunday on the couch, dinner with our dear friends Carlos, Nancy, and smart-as-a-whip Gabriella, and my growing belly at 18 weeks!
Lastly, wish us luck as we have our next prenatal appointment on Wednesday. I'll be sure to report back a heart rate, my weight, and any general findings that you may deem interesting.
Until then, have a wonderful week!
Hugs, Danielle
