34 Weeks, 4 days and Counting

Oh boy, interpretive photography is fun! I just may make it my new hobby. Just now, I decided that I ought to take a picture to illustrate how I've been feeling this week since it would just be ever-so-cruel to actually take a picture of me in the midst of my misery. (Say, whilst rocking and then HEAVING myself from the car and then waddling from there up the stairs to my office in 100 degree weather.) I must say, the above depiction is fairly accurate...The facial expression actually felt familiar as I was posing!

Misery is such a strong word, but it seems as though this week started off with a bang, and is shaping up to be worse than last week in terms of my pregnancy woes. Like clockwork on Monday, I became the bloated, walking water balloon that I've heard so much about. It was only a matter of time considering the temperature and humidity, but I've been dodging the bullet on so many other things (knock on wood), I thought I might on this one too! After several failed attempts to shimmy into some of my maternity pants that used to be too large and baggy, I finally settled on a pair of old standbys. I couldn't wait to get out of them after work because the supposed elastic band was cutting into my skin all day! To my chagrin, I also can no longer slide my wedding ring on. Hopefully my tan line and indentation lasts for awhile so everyone at least knows that I am still very much "IN wedlock"!!

And speaking of wedlock, I just want to pass along a special thank you to my husband who has done an AMAZING job of being an expectant dad. He has been so understanding and appreciative of what I am going through and has done nothing short of waiting on me hand and foot without my even having to ask. He's never been one to sit around the house and do nothing, but he is definitely going above and beyond these days! He helps me off of the couch, he puts blankets on me in the middle of the night when I've thrown them off, he ties the bows on the backs of my maternity shirts and dresses (lame in itself that I even have bows on the backs of my shirts and dresses), he takes my plates up after dinner, he switched cars with me since my car was so low to the ground...The list goes on! Thanks for everything honey, I love you! There is no doubt in my mind that you are going to be a great dad!

Finally got our ceramic tile done and am super excited about the way it turned out! Wood floors are purchased and are going in this week or next, which is why the nasty carpet is just sitting there with no "transition pieces" between that and the tile. I am a silly homeowner and forgot to take "before" pictures of everything but the upstairs bathroom, so here are just the "afters" of the areas on the main level that were completed:

I'll post the before and after pics of the upstairs bathroom in my next update...I forgot to take an "after" photo last night!

Here I am last night at 34 weeks, nice and bloated for ya! Can't see much in the photo, but you should see my ankles and feet! (And for some reason, my right one more than my left...)

I should also mention that last week's doctor's appointment went fine. Her heartbeat was fine and she is measuring right on. (Your belly should measure as many centimeters as weeks along you are, so in my case I measured 34 cms.) I keep on gaining that weight and clocked in at a nice solid 150 pounds for you. That's 36 pounds so far and I just keep on going!! My next appointment is a week from today, and then I'll go weekly from that point on. They'll be checking my cervix to see if I'm dilated or effaced at each of those appointments, so I may have a good idea of whether I'll go early/late, etc. by these next few weeks.

A big shout out to my friend Toto who turns 29 today!! Happy Birthday Toto! Have fun at the Twins game tonight, sorry I can't make it!!!

Hugs to all this week and stay cool in this crazy heat!

Love, D.
