Long Time, No Post!

Guilty! I am offically the worst blogger of all time. It's bad enough that I allowed two long weeks to pass without an update, but I had to do it while I am 38 weeks pregnant! Sorry for the false alarm to all of our friends and family who thought that I just may have gone into labor. As you'll read in this week's update, not so much...We are nowhere close!

To catch you up, here is big belly last week at 37 weeks!

Last week's checkup was a FUN appointment! As you'll recall, my first cervical check was a big fat goose egg (0 centimeters dilated) and the second weekly checkup yielded the same results. Since my cervix is still very long our nurse practitioner Peggy also couldn't tell how Baby Torres was presenting. Had Baby T been breech (feet first), they may have tried to externally turn her since there was still time. With that, Peggy figured we ought to find out for sure which to my delight was my favorite method so long as it is for a non-emergency...She ordered another ULTRASOUND! Bobbi our favorite technician was able to get me in right away and she was able to tell immediately that Baby T was head down just as she should be. With this easy diagnosis out of the way, that gave Bobbi and I some time to have a little fun! On went the 4D mode and we were able to get some amazing pictures of our little girl. These are absolutely crazy to me since they almost look like actual photos! Here are two of the best that we received...There are several more, but she has kind of a "smush face" in the rest. Taking the whole strip of photos into consideration, we are fairly confident that she'll have a nice full head of black hair. As far as I can tell, this girl is a spitting image of her daddy. See for yourself!!:

Today's checkup was a little more uneventful than last week's, and we are still in the same stagnant state. I am "maybe" dilated to a 1, but she couldn't be quite sure. In other words, nothing too exciting. I'm thinking that there is going to be an induction in my near future! If that comes to fruition, then we'll be looking at adding the newest Torres to the brood anywhere between September 9th and September 12th. They generally like to wait 7-10 days after the due date to give your body the most opportunity to let nature take it's course. Only time will tell! Blood pressure is good and weight is still increasing ever-so-slightly. I am now 160 pounds which puts me at a total weight gain of 46 pounds...No wonder it feels so difficult to even walk! Doc tells us that Baby Girl is feeling about average weight. She should weigh about 6 1/2 to 7 pounds currently, and could gain another pound if she goes to her due date. I sure am glad to hear that, as it just doesn't seem right to make a little person give birth to a big person (I've heard too many horror stories!) All the same, I am very lucky to be giving birth to any person at all...And am too excited to do it!

Here we are at 38 weeks...What's up with the change of scenery?!? We are SO adventurous!

It's beginning to become a little more difficult to do what the Average Joe would call a very simple task. Driving, walking, sleeping, and the list goes on! They say that the last couple of weeks of pregnancy are the worst and I'm beginning to believe it! A couple of weeks ago I was SO not ready for this child to be born. After all, I still am able to live life on my own accord. I can go to sleep when I want and wake up when I feel like it on a Saturday (minus the frequent bathroom breaks). I can just leave the house with no preparation and can sit and watch a movie with no interruptions. As much as I hate to give up all of these tiny freedoms, I do believe that the process of your simple functionalities disappearing could be nature's way of making you ready to accept all of these new challenges. Mandatory reprioritization is the name of this game! And speaking of bodily miseries...Remember how last week I was talking about how the picture of my swollen foot did the most recent bout of foot swelling no justice? Well, well, well...You may have read in last week's news that they may have found Bigfoot. I am here to tell you with 100% confidence that the Sasquatch is not just a legend! Check out these eyesores (Viewer discretion advised)!!!:

Can you even believe it?!? What happened to my chicken legs?!? The Sasquatch took them!

Here are the girls and I at work. From left: Jen, myself and Carrie. Jen is dilated to a "solid 3"!! I do believe that she will be beginning her maternal leave a bit sooner than I, but we shall see. Carrie's going to hold the fort down while we're out...Good luck, little lady!

And finally, I promised a photo of our new and gorgeous wood floors. Hallelujah, they are done! I still get excited when I walk in my front door to see my beautiful lower level of new flooring. Thanks to Johnny, Stephen, and Cardo for installing!

In light of today's news of potentially not having the baby until almost mid-September, I've asked my mom to consider pushing her trip to Minneapolis another week out, so I hope that we are able to successfully plan everything perfectly. The whole point was for her to be here a couple of days before Baby is born to help with preparations, to be here for the birth, and then to basically help Cardo and I take care of our little one (and to wait on me hand and foot :) Love you mom! ) I will be totally bummed if she can't push the trip out and I have to get induced so she only will have a day or two with the baby! Keep your fingers crossed for us that that works out! Hopefully by next week we'll have a better idea of where we are standing, although I think I have a pretty good idea.

So, that's all she wrote for this week. I promise an update following our 39 week appointment, as I know that you are all anxious to hear our progress (if any).

Hugs,

D and Baby T.
