Come on now, time! What in the heck is going on?!? (This is a phrase you will hear repeated often in my household, since Alessandra has latched onto it and it's hilarious to hear her say it. Some would argue that the word "heck" is a little too strong for a 3-year-old, and to those folks I say to please head on over to the nearest undershorts unbunching store over your next lunch break, but I digress...) I am just having some trouble believing that I actually entitled this latest posting with "third trimester". I feel like it was just yesterday that I was feeling those first maternal pangs tugging away at my uterus. Then again, it was quite a summer...Twins, surgery, moving, grandma, events every weekend, I guess it makes sense...
You know I like to take interpretive pictures of how I'm feeling once in awhile...

| ...Frumpy feeling at 27 weeks |
So, I'm officially already disgruntled and complainy. I usually have no cause for complaint around my pregnancies, and probably still shouldn't. But I'm going to all the same. Here are all the things that are annoying/causing discomfort these days:
1.
 |
| My pelvis feels like it's breaking in half |
2.
 |
| This awesome redtastic blood vessel that was there during the last pregnancy, but nowhere near this bad. It looks like a giant inflamed zit that never goes away. |
3.
 |
| I already walk like a freaking penguin and I'm only 27 weeks. Extrapolate that for 3 more months! |
4.
 |
| I have had the worst cold for, like, a month now and I can't take anything for it! They say that colds take longer to run their course when you are pregnant, plus I'm pretty sure another one just layered on top of the old one last week. I would like to kick those tiny ugly germs in the nads! |
|
5.
 |
| And since this stupid cold prevents me from breathing properly (plus, on top of colds lasting longer when you are pregnant, they say you get a naturally stuffed up nose anyway), I haven't slept well in weeks. |
|
6. So then I end up trying stupid natural remedies that don't help that much but make me look super awesome.
Breathe-Right strips

7.
 |
| I'm constantly hot and hungry. And yes, I do eat McDonald's at LEAST once a week. And then I feel all bloated and sleepy afterward. |
8.
 |
| My maternity clothes from last time around are already too small. Since I'm carrying a lot higher this time, there's only one explanation for this, and it isn't my tummy and rhymes with "Client Pass". |
Oh, I'm sure there are a million other things that I could easily complain about, but then that would take all day. So, outside of all of that crap, I'm well, thanks for asking. :)
In Alessandra news, she has already had a big week. After heading up with daddy last weekend to the Anderson's cabin (mama opted out for some much-needed solitude), she came home to a big girl bed! (See, I found time to be somewhat productive while they were gone!) We are still trying to figure out what we are going to do with the furniture situation between the two kiddos, but the one thing we know for sure is that Baby Torres CANNOT reuse Ali's crib. It was recalled for basically being a death trap with slats (oops, sorry Ali), and the veneer is wearing off in places where little toothless gums (or otherwise) could become full of slivers. Fine for a 3-year-old to use on its last legs, not fine for an infant to sleep in that I would actually like to stick around. So, although there is a queen size bed frame in the garage waiting for her highness to nestle into, the easiest solution for now was to convert her crib to a daybed, which was a nice and easy transition. So much easier to get out of and go potty in the middle of the night now! (Also so much easier to get out of and sleep with mama and daddy now, which has becoming more and more frequent too...Hmmmm....)

Since Halloween is on a Monday this year, next week's Monday dance class has been cancelled. They asked that all of the tiny dancers dress up
this week instead. Alessandra went as Tinkerbell. She felt pretty cool in her costume, and looked pretty cool too, in my opinion. In class they rehearsed an adorable routine to "
I Want Candy" and performed for all the parents at the end of class.

Of course, next week's post will be chock-full of excitement! On Saturday our neighborhood is having a Halloween parade for the kids and we will be hosting a party afterward. Monday will be Daddy and Ali's first time trick-or-treating the way that you
should go trick-or-treating (in a neighborhood, going down your actual street), and Ian says it's going to be almost 60 degrees! I'll be holding down the fort
eating passing out candy myself.
 |
| 60 degrees, I tell you! |
But...we are still going to daycare with hat and mittens on these days, so my last post's excitement about 80 degree weather in October is now just a far away memory. I really need to learn to stop jinxing myself. Let's try the opposite approach...I LOVE winter! Bring it!!!
Here is Alessandra in a perfect snapshot of each morning during our departure to our respective places of occupation, she to daycare, I to work. It is just a cute reminder of a preschooler's innocence and appreciation for the things around her. Without fail, she walks to the end of the garage and calls out "Good morning sunshine! Have a great day!!" I happened to have my camera with this morning and took a photo to catch the precious moment in action. I solemnly vow to appreciate the little things if even for a second each day. Thanks for the reminder, sweet daughter o' mine and YOU are my little ray of sunshine.

Until next week, have a SPOOKY Halloween!!
