16 weeks...Feeling fine!

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

I have a feeling that most of my belly shots will be including both children now!  This is just fine by me.  I not only get to compare my belly side by side with my last pregnancy, but how big my first baby has gotten since then too!  I know it's silly to think about Ali in terms of a fetus in my belly, but seriously, to think that her walkin', talkin', sassin' little body was doing a dance inside of me every day is SO hard to believe.

Speaking of doing dances, I am beginning to feel the familiar flutters of Baby Torres doing his/her own hustle in there.  If I had to choose my absolute FAVORITE part of being pregnancy, that, my friends would be it.  Sorry to tell you, dudes of the world, this is one thing that you will never get to experience, and, well, frankly...Sucks to be you.  Can't wait until those little kicks get stronger, though, and at least my dude and little dudette can feel them from the outside.

We've been keeping busy, and I just need to get a little better about busting the old DSLR out for some photo opps.  Alessandra has been making up for me though.  Here is the first ever picture she's taken.  Daddy is her first subject of admiration.  Come on, Ali!  Work on that white balance and F-Stop control!!!!

Our wonderful friends who have already been such a help to us throughout the move and beyond invited us up to their lake house this weekend.  Alessandra already loves Samantha (her newest babysitter), and she already loves boating, so add them both together onto a tube, this little girl is in Heaven!!  Here she is enjoying her first tubing excursion and she was absolutely fearless.  Of course, she was in good hands with Sam!

Longing to go back out!
We had to say goodbye to Ali's day care provider on Friday which was VERY sad.  I don't think Alessandra quite understood that she was giving all of her friends hugs for the last time ever, and it was probably worse for me than it was for her.  But come on, Christi helped raise my kid!!

Christi and Alessandra
Yesterday was very tough for Ali, however, when she realized that she really wasn't going back.  I had to basically drag her up the stoop to get her into her new provider Tabytha's house.  It was again, VERY difficult for me, as I had to leave her sobbing in a [well-interviewed] stranger's arms.  As Tabytha would document and communicate throughout the day via picture messages from her phone to mine, it didn't take Ali long to adjust.  She was snapshotted with giant grins on her face at meal time, play time, and nap time alike.  This morning was a different story, my friends.  As we were getting ready she was all but begging to go to Tabytha's house.  On our walk up, I held out my hand to hold hers (our usual protocol since she's been old enough to walk) and she said "Don't hold my hand, mama!"  Well, well, well...New friends AND feeling cool?  Sad!!!  Oh well, I'd rather my baby be happy and feeling cool then leaving her with a face full of tears again.  For that, I'm thankful.

I'm 17 weeks on Wednesday and am going to try and post on Wednesdays or Thursdays (to get the official "week" belly shots in), so maybe you'll see another post from me this week.

Feels good to be caught up on my blogging again!  Talk soon!!!
